About the Founder

Nathaniel L. Canfall, Jr., M.A. is the Founder and President of Canfall Community Builders, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to youth empowerment, community development, and second-chance opportunities.

Nathaniel’s career reflects a lifelong commitment to education, mentorship, and community service:

  • He has served the community as a licensed barber and instructor, mentoring youth in discipline and professionalism.

  • He worked as a college recruiter and later became the Director of Admissions at Allen University, guiding countless students in accessing higher education.

  • At Benedict College, Nathaniel worked as a counselor for six years, where he provided outreach, counseling, and developed support programs for freshmen and at-risk students. His work focused on academic probation support, retention strategies, and student success initiatives.

  • For over 12 years, he has served as a licensed Realtor, earning several awards for excellence in real estate, and was selected to receive a prestigious scholarship for the South Carolina REALTORS® Leadership Academy.

With a degree in Therapeutic Recreation (Benedict College) and a Master’s in Counseling (Webster University), Nathaniel blends academic training with real-world experience. His specialty has always been reaching those most vulnerable to failure and providing pathways to success.

Beyond higher education and real estate, Nathaniel is a gifted motivational speaker, coach, and mentor, focusing on life skills, youth development, re-entry support for justice-involved individuals, professional development, and leadership training.

Nathaniel’s personal journey—including overcoming adversity and serving seven years in prison—fuels his passion for prison reform, re-entry advocacy, and mentorship. Having gone through re-entry himself, he understands firsthand the battles that come with having a record. With lived experience as his foundation, Nathaniel carries the blueprint for re-entry—the resources, strategies, and personal adjustments needed to help others successfully transition into stability and opportunity.

As a parent, community leader, and coach, Nathaniel launched Ministry in Motion and Project U-Turn, the flagship programs of Canfall Community Builders. Together, these programs provide both forward growth opportunities (education, careers, life skills) and course correction pathways (re-entry, behavioral support, second chances).

Nathaniel affirms this truth:
“Outstanding outcomes CAN come from A beginning FALL.”
